I don't think the things humanity creates are in line with what we need. I don't think it's even in line with what humans need

Ive been having the exact same thoughts but in the other direction, often i think id prefer to be known by a more normal name, like my middle name. I guess i can just do that, since plenty of people go by their middle names, but it does feel kind of confusing like idk if i made a mistake or if this is just internalized social pressure, or if its just a manifestation of my general self dislike that’ll fade with time, idk. Anyway it is the name i use on here so i guess for now i can keep using it
It is also a big stupid thorn in my side that my name is generally read as exclusively male in Europe and i keep getting misgendered in written communication, like when i email my gp. Though that might just be intentional misgendering from my experiences there

did you ever try it?

The fact that it's already my middle name does make it easier if i end up deciding to swap them afterall. I only last year finished up getting my name legally changed to Jennifer on all my legal documents and IDs so i don't really want to go through all that again so soon, if I do change to Ruby I'll probably leave Jennifer as my legal name and just go by my middle, maybe get it all changed again in a few years if it sticks

Ruby is a lovely name 💙. I already know both a cis and trans person who go by what is legally their middle name, funnily enough.

recently my diet/eating routine was changed such that at one point i could only poop once a week. i had to learn to live with a little bit of stomach discomfort in-between poops (but not enough discomfort to reach critical mass, like). currently back to a little bit of regularity, though.
a few years ago i tried oats in part to buff up the fiber count. not for the big meals but it was practically my main snack. it gave me constipation instead. also i was/is a miserable cook so i couldn't really make anything nice out of oats in the first place. so a bit sad that that didn't work out
the nice thing about cleaning your butt with water is that you don't have to worry about your sticky shit making you go through way too many papers. (also a ton of places in the global south (don't really like the term but hhhhh) still don't use toilet paper. they do go through way too much water in return, though.)
re: male gaze comedy -- you don't joke about wiping making you feel a little bit gay so at least you're good on that front. also it stops being "male gaze" by virtue of you twovests being the one talking about it.

it's just a genetics business' publicity stunt. i doubt at the top they really actually care about bringing back an extinct species beyond the "cool" factor

Yes. This is the buff that Druids have needed since the seventies.

That makes so much more sense.
Idk Solar Opposites is the stronger and better show overall by like a mile. And Rick and Morty is still really pretty good
And it’s ending next season which is good because good shows should die sometimes so that new shows can grow

The thing with creating clones of extinct species (which is not what they did) is that those species went extinct for reasons.
If we cut down all the forests and the birds who depend on the trees die off as a result, and then create clones of those birds, they'll just die off again unless we put the forests back, which we are not doing.
If all the bugs die because the earth is now too hot for them to survive, and we create clones of them, the clones will all just die again.
This is a gimmick but ultimately it's "feeding cats to the coyotes."

I think we need need genetically modified super wolves so we can release them into gated neighborhoods.

Isn't poison ivy one of those things where it doesn't do anything the first time or two and then you become allergic? Or is that poison oak?
