I thought about that exact scenario a lot, actually. I asked my dad about what it felt like to have an anesthesia during a surgery he had, and he told me he didn't remember. I misunderstood that as a kid, and I thought all it did was spare you the memory, but not the pain. I lived with that misconception for a good while :D

I mean more that there are externalized costs to having grocery stores which are full of varied foods, grown worldwide, including off-season foods. Combined with most people needing a car just to get to the grocery store and bring things back with it, I think the system we have is not ideal. This is on top of all the other evils and problems with our agricultural system.

(That variety has some benefits, since people can meet their allergy and nutritional needs, and this post is short and would be paragraphs longer if I added more nuance. Also, if you get the chance and eat meat, try to each an animal for dinner that you saw running around during breakfast. It is an experience to remark on)

I am being a bit facetious, I wouldn't actually say "bourgeoisie", and I also buy groceries. All I mean is that it's not a very good system at all. We could have a better agricultural system while still having capitalism, too; it's not just "capitalism bad". Like most everyone else, I have practically no choice but to drive to the grocery store to buy frozen food.

I can't find the details, does this mean the DLC upgrades are paid, but frame rate/resolution boosts are free? This seems sensible if so.

I don't mean to defend Nintendo though, all of these pricing details are small straws upon the camel's back of Evil Activities. Metroid Prime 4 is going to be like eating that super unethical bird

$450 isn't shocking and the "Switch 2" versions might be reasonable as DLC. But I had to search up the rest, I thought it was a joke. $80 Mario Kart? The introduction tour game costs money?

I'll probably get it for Prime 4 though. I guess Nintendo has to recoup the money they paid for thay Bloodborne 2 exclusive

I agree with the perspective of prevention. I think people (even ones who have done bad things) have utility, and preventing them from causing further harm (rehabilitation, etc.) is what we'd have in a more ideal society.

But, and I hope this isn't too personal... I have to admit some merit in wishing death, I think. (Sans suffering or sadism.) Before your dad was out of your life, did you ever wish he were dead?

Like, I cut my abusive mom (+family) off in 2019. She made threats that had me on edge for months, but she was also in bad health. I have to admit that the fact she could die any day really kept me optimistic.

She was lying about her bad health and is still alive, but years have passed and I feel safer now. But I still admit that I'd feel safer.
