I am very anxious about the KKK being in the white house, and I am increasingly uncomfortable with my disproportionately white local trans community.
There is almost a dampening effect to talking about race among white liberals and leftists, I think? People with privilege shouldn't speak over someone from a marginalized group, of course; a well-intended and internalized rule, but. Fuck, man. If nobody's saying "Holy shit, the KKK-ometer is at four-Ks", then maybe you kind of have an obligation to carve out some space for that discussion? The KKK is in the white house. Mass deportations are happening. Fuck man. Do people even know how racist Laura Loomer is?
I know I've appreciated with cis people spoke up about trans issues, and I've felt more comfortable talking about them with that space already made.
