we are the last generation to grow up without cell phones being totally ubiquitous, which i think is funny. nobody younger than us has experienced a world without a societal expectation that everyone can be reached at any time, and if you cant reach them, theyre either endangered or like, a freak who doesnt have a phone

even though i really loved playing half life thinking about it now its just like... man what a bummer. its kinda like... barring portal, valve is a company thats more interested in hardware (and sometimes making games with stories in order to sell hardware) and lootboxes/battle passes. maybe if i had a vr set and played alyx i'd feel differently

i got a das keyboard about 10 years ago and its still going strong. kinda wish it had media buttons or something so I dont have to use my extra mouse buttons to play/pause/skip forward/back music but i cant complain too much

as someone who doesnt have a lot of time to play games usually I think that the idea of progressing in a game by not playing it is kind of fun and neat. the world ends with you did something like this where you earned exp the longer you didn't play the game, because the theme of the game was to go outside and connect with people
