there are heal blocks in the jp version and 3ds remaster, so you can use them to replenish luigi's health and repeat the process

i didn't realise that by punching luigi's balls for coins you were taking his life points away, so if you wanted to get more coins you had to heal him before punching his balls again. he's like prometheus except he didn't even do anything wrong
