all jokes aside i like how "leftist" ideas are becoming more mainstream and marketable but i dislike how they're being sold to us

"the boys" and "mr robot" are legitimately some of the best shows and i recommend them, and they have some good messages, anti-capitalist ones at that. but they don't dig very deep and they completely avoid concepts like "unions".

in "the boys", there are in-universe superheroes but also they make superhero movies, and the criticism ends at "haha sometimes superheroes are cringey" and not "hey, these super-expensive films couldn't exist in an ethical economic system", because that would implicate "the boys" irl as well.

Reply to comment by oolong in washing machine broke :c by oolong

This absolutely sucks, I hope you have a laundromat nearby. A laundry machine breaking is way more of an inconvenience than it has any right being :(

Not to sound like a samey freeze-peacher, but I value transparency like this. The best forums have high moderation standards with clear reasoning.

This poster seemed to ride the line of blogspam, genuinityness unclear, but also this is just a silly lil internet forum. Bans are easy and free, and very cool

jst pst remains the best place to pst

Also, the person we really ought to listen to is Noam Chomsky and the publication to read to stay informed on the war in Ukraine is The Jacobin.

What are you talking about???

I'm mainly lurking here but FWIW I read this as part of "The seeming conclusion", i.e. a take being criticized. I.e.

The seeming conclusion is [some stuff]. Also, the person we really ought to listen to is Noam Chomsky and the publication to read to stay informed on the war in Ukraine is The Jacobin.
