I have both javascript and cookies on a whitelist basis. Sometimes I do just have to copy a URL out to a different browser where I have them enabled to get things to work on a once-off basis, but I think it's good to just have them off by default.

How are you doing this? I've been doing it on Brave for awhile, but lol Brave, and I'd like to get onto Firefox or something.

i'm using the firefox extension "disable javascript." which lets you do allowlisting or denylisting, whichever flavor you prefer. it's open sauce in case you want to look at the code or even compile it yourself

Oh wow this works really well! And it seems Firefox lets us turn off auto-updates now.

This is way way more usable than uMatrix

why not just use noscript?

I remember it being some jumbled and confusing mess, similar to uMatrix. Too much work for me!

Running JavaScript off by default is hassle enough, I used Brave because it's just one click to turn JS on or off per-domain.

it's not too bad once you've been using it for a little while but yeah it's a little confusing
