In 2021 I wrote a long essay about how several terrible publisher decisions were killing my favorite game. While some people agreed with what I had to say, I got quite a lot of backlash, including a few people with power and influence in the scene who bullied me into quitting.

Last year I broke my silence to put out a followup video essay about how the passage of time proved me 200% correct. FUCK YOU I WAS RIGHT.

I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus almost two years ago. Love it so much that I wish I'd bought a more expensive model with analog sticks.

Now I'm in the rabbit hole of salivating at all these fancy new handhelds on the market, but never actually buying another one because something better will be right around the corner. Holding out for the day someone gets SteamOS running in this form factor.

1) Yes, and I appreciate that it exists as the most important thing to happen to Linux gaming in a long time... but I barely ever use mine at all except as a portable setup to take to FGC events. It's too big to fill the void left behind by the GBC/GBA/DS I grew up on. Can't put it in my pocket, and just doesn't feel super comfy.

Instead I bought a Miyoo Mini Plus two years ago and I've spent way too much time curled up in bed with that. One day someone's gonna release a SteamOS device in this size that runs all my favorite 2D indie games and I'll be all over that.
