Boys is used for adult men in like extremely familiar and casual contexts, like "Saturday is for The Boys" kind of stuff. There's definitely men who use "girl" in a more insulting context but like it's the intent that makes it bad not the word, I feel Lol. Anyway thank you for the pointless rant I enjoyed it

Can you link to someone talking about this? There's a popular "mastadon failed so we're trying this" post that I thought had good points, and I'd rather not go off of vague rumors about this kind of thing.

Edit: yeah everything I've seen from the founders looks cool to me, and a lot of what they want is freedom to actually control nazis and terfs that you can't get on mastadon, so I don't know what all this is about

Yeah we're much more of a casual website, and our traffic is too low, to make those features make sense. My online community making is focused more on removing barriers to posting than adding to them, and I think a problem with a lot of these ideas is the high barrier to entry. Are people going to want to post so much that they put up with them? Worth experimenting with, though.
