checking in: a cheap teabag (that i still think is nicest when drunk plain anyway), three teaspoons of powdered milk, sweetened with stevia, and a pinch of salt.

...maybe the salt lifted the drink up a bit? it's a sideways movement at worst. maybe using stevia for sweetener messes up the flavour profile? possibly. not really a big fan of regular sugar, though.

you could argue that by this point it's not even tea any more; it's just some abominable hot cocktail. i'd again argue that we're past that point when we added milk into it

But still, how can you call yourself a true tea-lover if you destroy the flavour of your tea by putting sugar in it? It would be equally reasonable to put in pepper or salt.

haven't checked yet, but just like how adding a little bit of salt into your chocolate drink works well, i think we could be onto something with a little bit of salt in your milk tea?

anyway, two can play that game: i don't think you should even add milk if your leaves are that good. are we tasting the tea or the milk here, hm

my personal tastes: i don't put sugar in tea, but occasionally some cheap tea that's a little bit too sweet is nice i think. it's difficult to get milk that's not flavoured/sweetened in my place anyway so any milk tea would be sweet by default, so no milk either. but when i do put milk in it, i make it a little bit too sweet, again. for some reason i can never get it "sweet enough", but "not sweet enough" is by far the worst thing for me.

speaking as someone who does that: sometimes you just need to say things. yeah, it sounds horrible, but: it's like a rhythm game. sometimes the notes just come to you and you just gotta. hit it, to keep the tempo of the conversation. my sentences are usually 70% caveats by content, but sometimes you just can't get these in and it sucks but that's how it is

obviously if the topic at hand is serious, folks shouldn't do that, but

i had actually posted a hypothesis on what your original post could've meant and where it could've come from and i deleted it 'cause i didn't vibe with it and i'm so glad i did because this is such a good story and my hypothesis turned out to be so off-base that it would almost feel like i'm belittling you
