Cohost, the second greatest place to post, is shutting down due to financial difficulties. I'd link to the post, but Cohost is struggling and I can't get to it. Cohost was a very good place to post that cropped up out of the whole Twitterdeath thing.
I'm being silly, but I'll very much miss Cohost :(
We never had financial updates because the operating expenses are pretty lax:
Thing | Costs |
---|---|
VPS | $14 / month |
VPS backups | $3 / month |
Domain | Not sure, but the total must be less than... |
Total | ... Like $20/month |
The only concern is images. Until 2024, Jstpst only took ~4MB of space across allll the posts. (Text is small!) Right now, everything included, the VPS is using 15GB of its 50GB limit. If images ever become a problem, we can just turn off uploads.
TLDR: Get ready for 5 more years of posting.
(edit) Real TLDR: Jstpst is not even close to having financial problems. :)

Yeah jstpst isn't even close to shutting down, I feel I should mention that Lol.
Sad about cohost! There was a moment where I thought about posting there more, but a part of my reasoning to avoid it was just that there was no way it was going to last, I didn't really trust the management.
But yes! Thank you everyone for posting!
