(You probably already know this, but I'm referencing Zuckerberg saying "They 'trust me'. Dumb fucks" regarding Facebook's users.)

I’m not trivially easy to track back to real world identity from any of my socials

I'm concerned about the data that Facebook holds, but otherwise did not regularly give away without a warrant. I'm worried about the Trump admin newly being able to ask, e.g. "Give us the user ID, profile name, and bio history of every single IG user, so we can filter(bio.contains('🏳️‍⚧️'), insta_bios) on it. Capiche?"

And from there, take the email, IP, etc of that. I imagine, even with great opsec, there's nothing that trumps the richness of data Meta has on people.

Maybe Facebook already had regular data dumps for the FBI, or maybe warrants actually mattered. I really don't know.

That said, I also totally feel you there. I wish I started with DIY HRT both to stay off lists, but also because I'd have been on it a decade earlier. At least, Planned Parenthood won't be cozying up to Trump.

It turns out you can just get rid of all the trans people, they put themselves on lists. They trusted Facebook, the dumb fucks.

I never trusted Facebook, and I’m not trivially easy to track back to real world identity from any of my socials. That said, I find myself wishing I had just started with DIY hrt. It would be trivial for anyone with access to prescription records to determine I was trans and toss me on a list.

Or they could just ask the public to report trans people in their community. I’m well enough known that someone would turn me in. So maybe it doesn’t matter in the end; we can’t hide, so it’s time to get ready to fight.

Maybe past time.

I wanted to check this out but can’t find it. I see a lot of themes (including a devtesla test theme) but no twovest theme…. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Edit: I’m responding to a year old post lol. Is this even a thing anymore?

100%. They bill it as "you don't have to pay a guy to run your on prem hardware for you" but you absolutely do not save money once you've scaled to the point you need a few machines.

And by that point, your software is probably so tied in to proprietary Amazon stuff that they've got you in a vice.

It's the same model as Oracle: oh we're so easy to use and friendly, and we have all these great Oracle specific features, go ahead and use them! 😊 but then they have you locked in and they can just start squeezing.

Thank you!! That's a good question! There's really not too many Qs, sadly.

There was a 2022 paper proposing three candidate phyla including Qinglongiota. They seem to be a big fan of oxygen poor environments and sediment!

Mesorhizobium qingshengii is a bacteria associated with milkvetch root nodule, which is cool! Those symbiotic relations are awesome. Everyone says its this cool thing plants can do, because our society suffers from serious metazoan bias, but ALL nitrogen fixation [that we know of] comes from bacteria. Some plants just form these symbioses.

Broadly, there's the concept of Quorum Sensing, which is a huge topic but basically accounts for a ton of the cool stuff bacteria do. Basically they can switch up gene expression based on the proportion of various chemicals in the environment. It is insane and awesome.

I was looking up Q related microbes (that sounds like a horrible conspiracy theory thing oops) and was able to find something tangential — queen bees have a really cool microbiome distinct from other bees!

There's also the queen hypotheses. The "Red Queen" one is general biology, basically just claims evolution is an arms race even if one remains static. Black queen is microbe specific and focuses on why certain traits are lost — basically, bacteria are wont to offload labor they don't need to perform. It's adaptive!

Going "your personal blog" mode: I don't like the bespoke names like "Route 53", but at least a lot of AWS makes sense? There are very few things I've come across (as someone toes-deep into AWS) that seem like a horrible engineering mistake made at Amazon.

If I were to build an intranet for the internet and divide everything into tiny little separately-billable services, I'd do it a lot like this.

i don't mean to humblebrag but i have gotten at least two people to start flossing regularly

That’s ok; it didn’t come across as humble at all ;)

That said, does it make sense when I say this just strengthens my current inclination against deep kissing?
