Is it right to keep a pet?

other people have talked about this but i dont think that owning pets is inherently immoral. owning pets is a net good for both you and the pet, generally.

I want an animal friend but i also know that animals don't feel about me as i feel about them.

Most common pets like humans. Animals that don't like humans generally aren't kept as pets, right? I don't know about like, lizards or bunnies or anything, though.

However, I also started feeling bad and wondering if the dogs were really happy living in a small house with a not that big yard.

I suppose that big dogs wouldn't like living in small homes with no outside area to play in. But small/medium sized dogs would suit small houses/outside areas fine, especially so if you take them for walks often. I don't know about keeping a dog if you're in like a studio or 1br apartment, though. You would have to talk to people at the shelter or pet store.

If I want to maximize what I can give to charity, it would make the most sense to just invest the charity money for my whole life and (in my will) have arrangements for someone else to take over the account when I die.

this makes sense in terms of numbers but i feel like not donating to charity all your life in order to make one big donation when youre dead means that the people youll donate to will be worse off now and theoretically better off later. if were assuming that charity is a money-to-good converter then like things will be Worse Later if you dont donate money now :???

as someone who has no jobs no hope no cash i would probably say either pledging the standard amount that a charity asks of you monthly - ie msf asks you to become a member for like $20nzd a month or something here - and donate individual lump sums to gofundmes or what have you as the need arises if you want that. the second option if you're Hard Core is to like, set aside a percentage of your paycheck and donate that money???

video gam:

the giant bombcast is consistently very good but its like two to three hours long some weeks.

the giant beastcast (basically the same show from giant bombs east coast office) is ok but dan ryckert is so fucking dumb and obnoxious it makes listening extremely uncomfortable sometimes but everyone else on the show is great.

gayme bar is three old queens complaining about video games

everything else:

sawbones is a show put on by justin mcelroy of my brother my brother and me and his wife sydnee whos an actual real doctor and they talk about medical history. its good. also i could recommend mbmbam here but you already know what mbmbam is and also their last few episodes have been kinda bad

chapo trap house is bad but i listen to it anyway.

important if true is a show i really like thats basically like absurdist commentary on technology and culture in late capitalism???? (thats my description not theirs). probably difficult to start listening to without listening to the earlier episodes but i think theyre all really funny and interesting. they have a video game show called idle thumbs thats basically the same thing but ostensibly about video games

the outline world dispatch is basically some journalists from the outline talking to each other and folks from other outlets about the stories they publish. the episodes are about 10-15 minutes long and usually interesting though they changed producers recently and the quality took a dive but things seem to be improving again???

the orville will be cancelled is basically a recap show of seth mcfarlanes star trek clone "the orville" except the two hosts like star trek and really hate the orville?? its better than it sounds i guess but they havent updated in a while.

citations needed is a politics podcast where the hosts basically recap and explain media bullshit. the name is bad but the show is typically pretty good. kind of on the fence between liberal/socialist but not too socdem but even then its worth listening to.

giving a list of every podcast i listen to makes me feel strangely vulnerable like "heres all my dumb interests and my justifications for them"?? anyway Enjoy
