In the market for a new phone, looking for recommendations

My nexus 5 is starting to freeze up occasionally as apps get more and more bulky so I'm looking for recommendations on a new android. Things I want:

  • Small screen. I had a 3.2 inch screen back in the day and I really miss that.

  • Vanilla or close to vanilla android os. This means no Samsung or HTC lol

  • Can run the latest Android os version and probably good for at least a couple future major version releases

  • This is a very distant want but I'd prefer decent plastic over like aluminum.

I'm pretty sure the only way to get a well supported small phone is to switch to ios and get an SE. Like the only small phone left on android is a poorly supported sony :(

Yeah small screen im figuring is a nice to have that I probably won't be able to get. IPhone se looks nice but I dunno if I want an iPhone... Maybe, maybe not

iphones are good, and I feel like the SE doesn't have that rich person vibe lol. Let me know if you have qs, it's not hard to switch over unless you do f2p mobile games.

The pixel 2 is five inches, which is almost the same size as the nexus 5 (4.95in) and it's stock android. expensive though :X
