thank you devtesla for writing dungeon meshi
i'm gonna invoke something horrible here so i'm sorry in advance: it hits the same note as the best parts of harry potter. i think it's the worldbuilding: you've written a world, with all of the little tiny details, creating a vivid place such that you want to put yourself in the characters' shoes. kui ryoko arguably did it better than the risible person responsible for harry potter, obviously without all of the baggage so that's very nice.
(in fact you could argue that kui ryoko has the inverse of "baggage" with regard to that topic specifically)

this was also mentioned in mia mulder's latest: it's amazing how there are entire sectors such as advertising that are entirely superfluous to human wellbeing

Reply to comment by hollyhoppet in official just post super bowl lviii thread: california vs missouri by cute_spider
you don't usually miss out much with super bowl anyway: obviously you can’t judge the super bowl “purely” by “game quality”, whatever that means, because there’s the stakes involved and all of the accoutrements of the show. and cteball’s not a nice sport to watch in the first place. but as with this version, super bowls tend to be very nervous, very tentative games. there’s usually one trick play that people will talk about for a long time but everything leading up to that will usually be sludge.
but this one the kickers did show out. i’m not even trying to joke here: they kicked the ball very far in this one

...i've genuinely never considered that ahahah. in my mind it's a given that if i got a new laptop i'll just use it for encoding and if the battery's non-removable then well it's fried lol. but yeah that's probably. that's probably an obvious available option to a third party reading what i wrote, huh

this brings to mind hpmor, which... i actually enjoyed when i read through it a while back. it did suffer from "forgetting to be a story"; better writers probably could avoid that pitfall.
