personal transgender news:
im gonna get my name and legal gender changed soon. but i gotta wait because ive got some traveling to do soon and i dont wanna deal with having to get a new passport and stuff first
its funny because im struggling with silksong way more than any dark souls adjacent game ive played recently (and im happy for it lol). The "clunky controls" of a soulsgame are way more intuitive to my brain than the jumping around and slashing in silksong.
A lot of the joy in Silksong is in being able to figure out how a boss or enemy forecasts their moves. Every enemy is an anime character who has to announce their moves. Silksong is a "Guitar Hero"-like, actually. I beat a lot of bosses and minibosses on the first encounter, I beat the final boss on the second try, etc.
For some of the bosses, they announce their coming moves with some simlish-style announcement. The penultimate boss took me seven tries for this. The flamboyant boss took me nine. But all the other bosses have windup animations that forecast the moves, with very few (no?) fakeouts.
have you tried sekiro? if youre looking for another guitar hero game you could give it a shot. (im just alwys looking for an excuse to recommend sekiro lol)
GAME DEV IS SO MUCH FUN!!!!
nah but for real, ive been learning programming just for this, and i get it now. when i write a piece of code and it does exactly what i intended for it to do first try its like what i imagine doing one drug is like (im too lame to know what doing a drug is like)
as an also permanently anxious person ive been trying to live by the if you worry and it doesnt happen youve suffered once. if you worry and it does happen, youve suffered twice, and if you dont worry and it doesnt happen, you didnt suffer at all, kinda thinking.
ofc you cant just never worry or plan ahead, but sometimes you just gotta ask yourself, what does all this thinking actually accomplish? does it get me any closer to any solutions or am i just needlessly torturing myself?
obviously easier said than done but it has still helped me to keep that in the back of my mind.
I'm currently reading American Psycho and I'm enjoying that, its a very funny book.
The last book I finished must have been Moby Dick at the start of the year. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I expected maybe. I think I lost out on something by not reading it in its original language.
