Oh wow this unlocked something deep in my mind. I must have thought this was Rugrats (because of how similar it looks).
I think I was too young to appreciate it properly, but I like this a lot.

I just love how my brain, on some subconscious level, totally buys that this is one episode in a real old stop motion animation series.

I think the reason Simon is one the train is because he did something horrible. This season is all about the lies we tell ourselves, and I think Simon is swallowing some serious guilt.

oh damn I hadn't considered that. I was thinking either 'Hazel has amnesia' or 'Hazel is secretly a denizen' with the former being more likely up until the end of episode 5, but... yeah, that stinger. you might just be on to something.

I followed the creator's tumblr blog for a while back when he was a comparative nobody. I found it pretty fascinating and enjoyed his attitude, and then he pulls out a TV show out of nowhere. It's truly an internet age experience.

I have very mixed feelings about this and the tone of the article. I'm having trouble properly articulating why lol but at the very least I do feel like calling them "brave" is a bit of an overreach.

I love this, and I love seeing all the ways things wound up being different for the actual show, or changing as the show went along

one of the reasons this is so good is because the tone of the bible brings out the tone of the show!!!!

sadly I was put off by the art style (very common for me, esp for cartoons of that era) so I never gave it a chance. it does seem to have a minor reputation for having been really pretty good.
