Wouldn't these not have as strong of a timestamp? My understanding is that the only benefit of notarizing """on a blockchain""" is that there are a lot of copies of the database everywhere with the same timestamp, and that there are some blockchain-based enotaries out there?

I don't mean this rhetorically, I've never actually used a notary (electronic or otherwise) so this is a gap in my knowledge (I don't know what to search for to fill that)

i would only use an NFT if i really really needed to notarize something with a difficult-to-break timestamp and if i wanted that i'd do it on ethereum and on bitcoin

the fact that nft people don't understand this and that the big NFT platforms can revoke things tell me that this won't actually work

how will i prove things to people? imagine the year 2060 "hey you can see the SHA256 digest of my patent on this block from 30 years ago if you download the entire 30 TiB blockchain" and they say "what the hell is a Block Chain. go Fuck yourself" and they sentence me to space execution

Oh my fucking God this is true

Their defense was this: https://twitter.com/cryptoland/status/1480191582909440005

"Our twitter is run by several people and not all of them are native english speakers."

What was the supposed interpretation then??? Like, I have heard some painful stories from non-native english speakers about mixups, but this just sounds like bullshit. You'd think they'd be quick to state specifically what the mistake was if that is the excuse they go with.

God it was so bad. WSL and WSL2 are Microsoft's desparate attempts to court developers who realize how much better Linux and Mac are for developing anything, but instead it just gives people the impression "Ubuntu sucks and is slow" which is probably just as good.

Maybe 2022 will be the year of WSL

Hearing "crypto" be short for "cryptocurrency" is bad enough, but then they stole Isle Delfino and the helicopter from Super Mario Sunshine?

Windows 10 was really neat because in 2016 it was FINALLY catching up to Linux DEs, with things like multiple desktops and whatnot.

There is a tool called Disable Windows Tracking (DWT) here: https://github.com/bitlog2/DisableWinTracking

This is a fork and idk for sure if it's still considered trustworthy, but I use it. It will break a lot of things like the Xbox app though.

I don't recommend using Windows unless you absolutely need to. IME it does nothing better than my Linux distros except NTFS support and some software.

if you can, i highly recommend switching to linux. i'd recommend ubuntu or an ubuntu derivative

"year of the linux desktop" is a meme, and it's actually gotten harder to install on a lot of hardware, but videogames actually mostly work

i started using ubuntu from 10 years ago and man it's so much more enjoyable to be on ubuntu than on windows

i know "haha just get linux" is a meme but, like, windows 11 is still coming
