I get the feeling it's establishing a "baseline" to subvert and divert from. It already has in some mostly-subtle but very-meaningful ways IMO.
I don't think the next 5 chapters will be the same "silly adventure in the dark world, seal the fountain!" routine. I'd bet money Chapter 7 won't end like "welp, good job sealing all the fountains!"

I remember this being a big controversy, with headlines saying "Google is getting rid of porn", and in retrospect it was a great idea.
DDG is great for LaTeX, but god forbid you hit "Images" by accident.
