I just started teaching this year and getting told that Scott Pilgrim vs the World is a "really old movie" is so bizarre!

history of rome is a classic and very good! it's a narrative history of Rome from the kingdom of rome to the fall of ravenna & the collapse of the western empire. The narrator is fantastic and entertaining and soothing, and it's real neato.
our fake history is my vote for currently updating podcasts. another history one! it's about historical myths and urban legends, so it'll look at, say, Robin Hood or Lady Pirates, and see where the stories started, how they crept into the modern consciousness, and if there's any historical evidence to suggest there's any truth to the tales. V entertaining storyteller. The more recent seasons are generally more "exploration of a broad topic" rather than "analysis of a single myth" but I don't mind.

yeah it definitely has a problem with children, but I've recognised people I know or celebs. I guess there's only really a finite number of ways you can put a face together and have it look like a face.

It mostly works really well. Sometimes you'll get one where the teeth don't quite line up or there's weird voids in the background... and sometimes you get one with a whole secondary face attached to the main face.

I think code vein is a soulslike yea.
and I am definitely getting better at the parrying nonsense! it's just kind of awkward controlling it - unlike most parry mechanics where you just have to hit block at the right time, in The Surge 2 you have to be blocking, and flick the right stick towards the direction the attack comes from. And if you mess up it costs a lot of stamina or health.

This is actually not something I've specifically come across in academia before but I'm not the most widely read. There is definitely the idea of different masculinities and femininities.
It feels linked to the phenomenon of non-threatening "soft uwu boys" that the internet keeps being let down by. It's a good thought tho and something that I think would be interesting to look into.
