  1. take the pendulum from your favorite clock

  2. while your nintendo 64 is running mario 64, smash the cartridge with the pendulum. aim to smack the cartridge out of the slot, though fully removing the cartridge isn't necessarily required to trigger the crash

  3. with enough luck, the game will crash after a swing or two. it may take more depending on how weak and noodly your arms are

even though i really loved playing half life thinking about it now its just like... man what a bummer. its kinda like... barring portal, valve is a company thats more interested in hardware (and sometimes making games with stories in order to sell hardware) and lootboxes/battle passes. maybe if i had a vr set and played alyx i'd feel differently

as someone who doesnt have a lot of time to play games usually I think that the idea of progressing in a game by not playing it is kind of fun and neat. the world ends with you did something like this where you earned exp the longer you didn't play the game, because the theme of the game was to go outside and connect with people
