Untitled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel is gonna be extremely mediocre, and people will discover that Sonic Frontiers, released half a year earlier, is actually surprisingly good and stands on its own as a spiritual successor to BotW, despite frequent accusations of being a shameless ripoff.

haha just kidding. Untitled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel will actually be extremely good and everyone will rave on about how it sets a new standard for open world games or something. The dinosaurs at Sega will ruin Sonic Frontiers with their bureaucracy, and it'll be buggy and incomplete and declared the new Sonic 06.

If you're reading this in the future and somehow the first scenario happened, then disregard the 'haha just kidding' paragraph and declare me a prophet or somethiing.

Even if BotW2 does not improve on BotW1 in any regard, it'll still be a very fun and good game

Hi I'm from the future.

You are correct, but unfortunately hedging your bets is unlike hedging your hogs, and I can't reward you with praise the way I might have if you were a hedgehog.

Edit: the future agrees that you can change your internet username to "The Hedged Hedgehog." The future trusts you know how.

we gotta consider that the only way to improve on a game where you play as a crossdressing twink is to make it a game where you play as sonic

Honestly my only complaints about BoTW are downstream of it being a children's game (I would have enjoyed a more complex characterization and story but it's understandable given the target audience - even ignoring how, say, Link and Ganon are simplistic in part because they're following the legacy of a series descending from NES era.) Something more successful storywise with similar demographic would be Chrono Trigger so I know it can be done. Actually EarthBound and Mother 3 might fit that bill too!

I expect more from video game stories as time goes on and BoTW had some of the craft in place (e.g. lovely animations and voice acting, especially loved the Rock Dad and princess Zelda). The Twitter user and game designer @docsquiddy has convinced me that most games should be build around stories, but BoTW felt like mechanics, exploration and frankly joy of movement centered title.

Actually it took me a hideous time to understand that gyroscope had anything to do with aiming, I wondered why shooting with a bow was so shaky! So two complaints.
