i have done that many a times growing up. especially drinking sweetened coffee (the grounds are sweet!)
i'm reminded that my mother used to tell me that i will get punished in the afterlife for every grain of rice left on the plate. not sure if that's got anything to do with it though; i'm genuinely pretty sure that i was just Maximizing My Treats

i think nescafe is a boycott target on the level of starbucks considering all the shit nestle gets up to in third world countries and that is the main reason why i can't recommend it (;∀; )
also nescafe is the relatively expensive commercial brand in my country (it's imported) but it's true that even more expensive makers exist. if you can get it, jamaica mountain peak instant coffee(you'll probably have to import it) is nice (;∀; )

i appreciate this!! most coffee snobs will decry instant and have no opinions on the various brands. and yet, i find myself with instant due to the circumstances of living with a baker, and on occasions i will drink it. "swift" sells specialty instant coffee at three dollars a cup and it's not even that good. i've enjoyed starbucks instant coffee but i don't want to support starbucks even before the whole "firing employees for unionizing and/or protesting israel". the nescafe instant gold looks like it makes a cup for $0.25 which is way more my speed.

What brand? I've always wondered about instant coffee and its potential to be good and I've not had many great experiences

Reply to comment by twovests in should i get a french press or a moka pot? by hollyhoppet
i can't stand the siltiness but i think in the long run i'm going to get cloth filters (there's some highly rated ones out there) and a pourover thingy that'll let me make 2-3 cups

I have a french press and I like it but I always kinda wished I'd gotten a moka pot instead (but I have never used one so idk if I would actually have liked it better) so that's a data point for ya

They make reusable metal filters (albeit they may take awhile to "even out" ecologically). The metal will also keep the oils and the 'siltiness' like a french press (which you might or might not want)
