two of my trans friends killed themselves during the trump presidency and MAGA is successfully and increasingly associating trans identity with pedophilia. pick your favorite transphobic slur, your favorite far-right forum, and your favorite search engine, to see what the winners were and are saying about us
most americans believe in christianity and we're living like the world isn't burning. people actually believe in christianity! that's wildly delusional! not transitioning is, like, third or fourth on the list of ways i'm living inauthentically
i will feel meaningfully safer and more secure in a life under trump if i don't continue my transition

i'm not a transgender american but i think you might be overestimating how good transition might be under a democratic president. at the end of the day do you really want to live inauthentically for four or more years because of who's president

sorry. context was that i was transitioning. there were a lot of factors that had me on the fence, but this is a showstopper

I was part of the "I won't vote for genocide" vote, and it does sting that that principle did mean throwing all these minority groups under the bus, but it's even worse that the "I won't vote for genocide" didn't end up mattering at all

"Trump has dementia" was never a political lolz. His father died of it, Trump is 78 and i'm terrible shape. Musk and co have already picked up the baton of MAGA.
I can't believe we're going to see a fucking JD Vance presidency

Exactly correct. I think the "corporations produce greenhouse gasses, carbon footprint is a myth" is actually just corporate propaganda.
Individuals have carbon footprints which have a small impact on climate change and a large impact on their local environment.
If individuals focused on their individual carbon footprint, it would be good, but it would mean buying less, and that would impact their bottom line.

Ten million percent! This has been a huge bugbear of mine for so long.
I also feel like people use the whole "the top ten corporations produce most of the green house gas" thing as an excuse not to be better. Yes there's systemic issues and we shouldn't waste our time trying to scold people who individually make very little difference. But a collective is made up of individuals acting in concert, and if you make the worst decisions you're still part of the problem, even tho you shouldn't be expected to solve the crisis alone.
Even if you don't care about the killing of animals, it's still a good idea to eat less meat from the perspective of greenhouse gas emissions. You don't get to say "chevron pollutes more than me" when eating meat is probably among the most carbon intensive things most people do.
Also, those corporations burn so Mich carbon to sell stuff to people. They're doing it partly to satisfy consumer demand.

Absolutely.
This is a forum where January 6th was kind of planned. I balked at them for saying some hilarious shit, like "I can't go because if I leave, who will stop commies from killing my family?" or "I have to go, because if I don't, commies will kill my family." I'm not exaggerating here. Then the riot actually happened, so I went here to check the pulse again.
Now, it's really a lot of practical "growing the cult" mindset, but yeah, they're totally right here.
I really attribute the community here at JstPst for taking opportunities to educate me. I had a lot of bad thinking in me that some of the people here were able to comb out, and they gave me a lot of patience and grace. That was 12 years ago, but I think it's a winning strategy.
I've had increasingly few opportunities to "reach across" a divide, given the pandemic and the tea party / MAGA / whatnot.
There is a grave feeling in my heart currently

I don't think they're wrong for wanting to seize opportunities to educate people, because that's what I try to do with leftist topics. It's what they believe that I object to, which is why I'm glad this individual chose to roll their eyes and disengage.

This is what unity-struggle-unity was made for. But not enough leftists want to actually practice principled struggle.

I've been thinking about leftism a lot. One of conservatism's big strengths is that they have a huge culture against infighting. I guess a group that prides itself on confirming will have a better unity of direction than a group of individuals which prides itself on nonconforming.
