studio ghibli films have really solid dubs tbh. also good first film from them to watch tbh

also for possibly comparable studios, if lieu of "auteurs," i'd say disney movies in japan are more hugely popular than ghibli movies in the states. that's probably in part due to the power of the american entertainment exporting machine lol

also is that actually true? there are five sphincters in the gi tract from your mouth to the anus: two in the esophagus, one between the stomach and upper intestine, one between upper and lower, and the anal sphincter. any one of those might be closed while you're kissing someone so i think we need some sort of probability assessment of whether there actually is a fully interconnected tube. with ten sphincters (since it's two people) it seems pretty unlikely to be the case most of the time

yes, but irc was really not easy to use for people who weren't the most tech literate, and the alternative those people used before discord was skype (bleeugh).

ideally there would be an easy-to-use, not-for-profit option but we don't really live in a system where projects like that can get enough development resources to solve the usability issues irc and matrix face.

perhaps even an update to the irc standard or something would have been cool.

so like yeah, discord sucks but it does enable more people to connect in an irc-like fashion than irc did. it's a mixed bag.
