Seems unlikely given history but waiting until the GOP convention is over before switcherooing biden out so all their attack lines against him specifically are moot, makes me think.... maybe.

On the other hand the panicked last minute switchout of their nominee who had been doggedly clinging to it months after it was clear for all to see it wasn't a good idea, telling everyone who was warning them "this is a terrible idea" that they were working for trump, etc, makes me think no they actually have no plan and the fact that literally anyone other than him is doing better is more of an indictment than anything.

I'm not a 5d chess believer. I don't really know what to make of what's going on.

hmm i think that they assumed that they would be able to coast through this election Weekend at Bernie's-ing biden by emphasising trump's criminal charges, rape scandals, fearmongering about project 2025, etc. bad polling against trump was waved away by saying that it was republican biased (remember that isaac chotiner interview with that guy who ran "hopium chronicles" or whatever? that guy was a dem party insider, so to some extent i think that they've started believing their own propaganda like many republicans tend to). i think they thought that biden could outperform trump at the debates as well in terms of intelligibility but they overestimated his ability to orate at this stage and underestimated how "baked-in" trump's incoherence is to the wider electorate. think about how every vote blue no matter who guy was shrieking "the lugenpresse are focusing on "Biden's" "Dementia" while IGNORING how stupid trump sounds!!!" for a couple days there. trump's brain was 90% cocaine in 2016 and it is the same way today, but people were genuinely surprised by biden's inability to carry a debate. the donors that pay for nancy pelosi's stock market purchases got spooked and thought that biden was too cooked to outperform trump (probably not wrong given the polls) and started making calls so the plan had to change.

Democratic presidential politics is really about the individual candidate's emotional journeys in ways that are really disgusting. biden stayed in too long for personal reasons, and is clearly extremely depressed about no longer being in the race (can't even make a speech about it). I don't think there is a 5d plan going on, it just happened to occur in a way that's giving them an advantage. It helps that trump is stupid

This is I think one of the biggest reasons the dems are so useless as a party. It's not a party, it's a vehicle for individuals to advance themselves. At best, it's a brand.

There's no cohesive goals you can say the dems support. There's no room for one person to make a move that's risky and know the rest will have their back. It's all about individual careers.

Part of this sickness is how obsessed the strategists are with celebrity endorsements. I don't care if Charlie XCX likes kamala and I doubt many of her fans do either. A few weeks ago they were talking about a blitz primary hosted by Taylor swift. First of all why would swift do that, and second off why would people want that?

They don't treat the party as about trying to advance a political agenda, or their voters as people who have political desires. It's just brand management.

I don't believe in 5D chess but I do believe in tic-tac toe, and the GOP insists on only going straight, so I feel optimistic about recent events.

I think it's a combination of panicked scrambling, combined with how Joe Biden is about the only guy who could lose to Trump, combined with a decently timed reveal that they were dumping him.

We'll see how it goes.

BTW copmalla sucks shit too.
