Radiation-heated water tastes just as good as conduction-heated water to me. I don't get why people fuss about only using a kettle

Ick. That's a problem I'm glad I don't have

I think that's a waste of electricity lol

I think technology connections has a video where he says that while he thinks it sucks to do that, it's pretty energy efficient because the heat gets beamed directly into the water as opposed to using a coil stove. This assumes you don't have an electric kettle.
I might be wrong about the contents of this video. https://youtu.be/_yMMTVVJI4c?si=EKY61S8BddZ0AOKH

It's 108,000 Joules to heat up my cup of tea with the microwave. I don't have an electric or induction stove, otherwise I'd test it and see which comes out ahead in terms of energy usage.

I can usually achieve about the same water temperature by filling up the cup with the same amount of water I always do, and microwaving it for 120 seconds.

people are soooo bad at keeping microwaves clean. microwaved water becomes a weakly flavorful broth. memories of myriad microwaved meals
