To be more clear about what's going on, due to issues on raddle, the site this software was developed for, the essentially sole developer of the software we're using has decided to stop development. We're gonna take a sec to understand what this means for us, but it probably isn't much. Let me know if you have any questions!

To add to what the admin said, the software this site runs on, PostMill, will on some future date probably have more options for adding images to themes and shit.

EDIT: ok the author stopped development of PostMill so that's not going to happen.

I'm coming out of a very draining career crisis for lack of a better word and thumbnails are one of my goals to get done while I'm taking my break. That being said this involves doing an integration with a service like s3 so if I can't figure it out either someone else will have to do it or it'll just be a longer term project.

We had to disable them because they kept disappearing on us. We don't have a schedule or anything but we would like to bring them back someday.

The code is stateless in a lot of good ways.

You can clone to a second PostgreSQL database and install Postmill entirely fresh into separate places on your disk and get all the kinks and steps out without interfering with the running site...

80% of the people here browse /f/all/new anyway so vote manipulation doesn't have quite the impact here it would on other sites :P. And if I saw something have over a few dozen votes on it I'd probably be doing some sleuthing for shifty users anyway.
