Brushing is the first step in grooming since it prevents the cat's hair from balling up. Brushing will get rid of any loose hair and reduce the chance of developing hairballs. Many cats struggle to get hairballs out. A hairball that the cat can't pass could cause an obstruction in the intestines. Blockages are extremely hazardous and can soon endanger your pet's life.

Cats with long hair require daily brushing and combing, but cats with short hair just require weekly grooming.
