Blender, Open Broadcasting Software, and even Godot are three "best in class" pieces of FOSS. They're sometimes the only recommendations for someones needs.

KDE has a suite of cool apps, many of which are sleeper contenders for "best-in-class". I don't really understand how it is that so many KDE applications are so good. Most of them are cross-platform, running on any of the major three desktop OSes.

Their suite is extensive, including KDEConnect for controlling your phone from your desktop and vice versa, KdenLive as a video editor, the Calligra office suite, and the venerable Krita painting software.

KDE's KolourPaint, however, does not attempt to be the best. It instead copies the user interface of Microsoft Paint, circa Windows 95 / 98 / XP, with several welcome added features.

This is just a "Hey, If You Miss MS Paint, Check This Out" post. For those who miss MS paint and need software to check out. Everyone should always be looking for new software to use. You surely will not regret more software.
