  • standardizes bedrock edition, functionality parity with java edition.

  • deprecates java edition

  • BIG emphasis on mods:

    • adds an emulation layer that translates between the two

    • pays for development of bedrock versions of popular mods, in collaboration with the community

    • many features originally in mods are now part of the base game

  • native support for linux, bsd, and haikuOS. happy pride month xbox

  • save file conversion tool so players/servers can continue their worlds in bedrock

  • option to "publish world as NFT on the Microsoft Infinity blockchain"

  • game requires always-on server connection

  • server keylogs the game + chat for replays on their server. microsoft uses this for a famous 2028 computational intelligence paper, "minecraft as a language"

  • new MASONRY MODE!!!

    • dude masonry mode is so cool ok

    • you can chissel into blocks to create finer detail, at 16x16 px chunks, with a UI kind of like Animal Crossing's pattern designer but in 3D

    • you can chisel them to a block, and record the pattern to make more of the pattern

    • when placing blocks, you can also rotate it 90 degrees / flip it across axes

    • most building blocks now have a VOXEL TEXTURE defined too for all the layers

    • so when you chisel into a log, you cut through bark and then through the core

    • or a furnace, you can see the parts inside of it

    • blocks without a voxel texture just interpolate the texture inward

  • but Masonry Mode is only available for players 18 and up who show ID, to protect young eyes from an unbecoming statue on a multiplayer server
