For those not in the loop: The Gowers, who made Runescape, left shortly before RS3 alienated a lot of players with changes.
Andrew Gower went on to form Fen Research, which has been radio silent until 2024.
In the interim, Jagex ruined not just Runescape, but also FunOrb, and bought and killed the very good "Ace of Spades" videogame too! I curse Jagex for their path of destruction.
Meanwhile, the wonderful homosexuals working on Old School Runescape have continued to produce a game. (I can say "wonderful homosexuals" because I know people who are wonderful homosexuals who work on OSRS.)
Then, in 2024, the Gowers over at Fen Research announced "Brighter Shores", which really just seems to be their spiritual successor to Runescape. The engine seems full of the jank you'd expect from some weird brothers working in isolation all their lives, and the game looks like it's going to be just as bad as Runescape.
Because of my many flaws as a person, I'm very excited to get in on the ground floor and play this game. Furthermore, I think it would be funny if people from Jstpst formed one of the first clans.
For those who don't know, informal "clans" are pretty essential and organic networks in Runescape. They're people to chat with during the tedium of grinding, but also a wealth of people to form ad-hoc buddies with for any quests or raids you're doing. They're fun and cool.
Clans are also a good way to curate your social experience in Runescape. There are a lot of trolls and homophobes, which you can mute, leaving only clan chat on. It's how I play, when the Runescape itch strikes every year or two.
The cool thing about clans is that they have no obligation whatsoever. I'm thinking of titling the new clan "No Boys Allowed" but I'm open to suggestions. (Note to boys: You are very welcome.)
