if you use iphones, you're going to hate ios 17. it has a transformer model (i.e. chatgpt) built into the keyboard, and you can't turn it off without also losing the predictive row

if that's done on the device itself, and the stuff you're typing isn't sent anywhere, i have no problem with that. besides, iOS likes to suggest i put å in front of every english word, so disabling the predictive row wouldn't be a big loss for me anyway.

when the app is educational in nature, i have a huge problem with being offered "AI" generated courses, as that's basically asking me to give them money so i can be misled.

it's on device, which is great, but has been a really poor experience for me

but yeah, duolingo "max" has ensured i never purchase their product (-:

i have reached the point where i find any discussion of ai to be kind of obnoxious and boring which is probably a little ungenerous but it's basically filling the space "the blockchain" was in in my head
