discourse is this open-source self-hostable forum, in the same vein as postmill. but unlike postmill, it's marketed in a way where you'd have no idea.

you go to discourse dot org and what do you see? About. Features. Pricing. Success Stories. Hell, "Follow us on Twitter" is listed about "Discourse on GitHub."

I used to read coding horror all the time and he would blog about it a lot, though not most of the time.

Yeah it's open source but with service licensing, pretty common business model tbh. Not the worst way to do it if you're a business person.

oh yeah! it's a good thing and not bad at all. i just had it mentally filed away as Software That Will Never Matter To Me, because it didn't have Open Source Vibes
