I have both javascript and cookies on a whitelist basis. Sometimes I do just have to copy a URL out to a different browser where I have them enabled to get things to work on a once-off basis, but I think it's good to just have them off by default.
i'm using the firefox extension "disable javascript." which lets you do allowlisting or denylisting, whichever flavor you prefer. it's open sauce in case you want to look at the code or even compile it yourself
