That sucks :(. Are you renting? If you are make sure you know what your legal responsibilities are, specifically it might be your responsibility to report the infestation to your property manager as soon as possible. This will depend largely on your state and the content of your lease agreement.

I wish we had actual ways to cohabitate with mice and the like ;_;. Or at least like no-kill traps but on a nest-wide scale.

I've told my landlord as soon as I noticed. Apparently the other tenants (who have been here longer) were aware but didn't care and weren't aware of the dangers of mice....

I wish I could do a no-kill solution, but I don't have a car, so taking the mice the 10 or so miles away isn't an option. I'm trying to use the most humane killing options available. The snap traps have stopped working, I might end up getting a zap trap. I won't use glue traps though - they're inhumane and don't even rhyme.

That's a shame. Well I wish you the best of luck and a minimum of karmic impact.

we had mice in my garage when i was a kid and we used no-kill traps to release them in the only nearby field, but a bunch of redtailed hawks wised up and used to just wait for us to release them so they could have dinner. i came around to just killing them with the traps as painlessly as possible, cause i figured it was less scary for the mice than running for your life only to get swooped upon by a big thing with talons. i dunno.

it's a hard problem.

Not to say the seriousness of the problem is unimportant (cause it is important), but I totally read that as "radiated hawks" at first

There's a great mouse trap channel on YouTube, here's the best trap they've ever tested.

I got those coming in tomorrow! I'm hoping this will be the final thing I need. I also have the spinny one for the bucket.

EDIT: Reviewing the video, there's also a recent update video. This is the exact setup I will be using!

These are exactly what I ordered:

I already have a variety of buckets in the place I'm living at.

So did it work?

Nope. :\

This is a new infestation, since they run different tracks and eating from different traps. I caught one mouse in a snap trap but no other explicit signs of activity since. I have heard what I thought were mouse gnawings at night, but I don't know for sure...
