Trump is gonna get impeached???!? what the fuck??!?!? okay this is what I understand is happening:

house democrats catch wind of a whistleblower claiming trump is trying to set up a deal with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate joe biden and his son, hunter biden's activities in the country in exchange for military aid. this is textbook corruption and basically what got rod blagojevich in prison.

pelosi, who had been blocking impeachment forever, suddenly allows the process.

trump releases a summary of a call with Volodymyr that he says exonerates him but is a smoking gun lol. here's the good bit:

The other thing, There’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it. It sounds horrible to me.

there's definitely tons of stuff around that could have taken down trump and I have theories about why this is the first one to really stick. I think there's an open and shut element to it, as well as the fact that he's weaponizing an instance where Biden used connections to get his son a job. all politicians do these kind of things, it's why they are politicians, and he's fucking with every democrat and republican by trying to

it's felt like nothing has mattered for a long time and of course things start mattering when it comes to the families and careers of the political class. trump has done countless illegal things and even more deeply immoral things but it wasn't stealing elections or ethnic cleansing that got him in trouble it's fucking with hunter biden.

anyway I try not to get too excited over these things but damn, I really think that enough senate republicans will flip over this. they can afford to lose an election but not their status as a political elite. maybe trump will be able to do something to prevent it but I don't know. anyway that's all I hope this helps
