The idea of "putting your money into doing the most good" is a good idea.
You don't need to account for all the trappings of utilitarianism. It's okay!
You don't need to take LSD and go to Silicon Valley orgies or buy cryptocurrencies.
You don't need to be worried about Roko's Basilisk. You can completely intellectually discount people who are worried about Roko's Basilisk.
It's all a distant dream.
If you want to invest your money in improving wellbeing and you've philosophied yourself to ego death or empathy, but you want to make the MOST of it, then it's okay to go to Charity Navigator or GiveWell and sort by charity.
401K? IRA? Stocks? Bonds? Just know you get a guaranteed ROI when you invest in mosquito nets or childhood vaccinations.
It's okay
