Harris recently called for a ceasefire and criticized Israel's actions, while vowing her continued support for Israel and calling for a two-state solution.
From the way I see it, all my life it had been unacceptable to criticize Israel. Now, over the past year, it became acceptable to openly criticize Israel and we even have US presidents and candidates doing so
That still falls way short of the "Israel should not exist" or even "we should stop killing Palestinian children through Israel". I'm not giving the United States points for saying "it's bad to be evil" while being evil.
But, am I right to be a little optimistic?
At protests, we'd say that Gaza would be free "within our lifetime", but that felt a bit fantastical. Even "we will have a heavily-asymmetrical two state solution within our lifetime" felt almost fantastical.
I wouldn't voice that out loud, and I wouldn't be deterred by my own pessimism about an issue that does not affect me. But seeing US and world leaders pulled so far to the left on this issue gives me optimism.
But I also have a pretty limited perspective. Is this view correct? Does it appear that Israel's support in the US and worldwide really has weakened?

I am also a little more optimistic, though it should be noted that historically Israel has had more material consequences for their actions than they have had over the past year. The rhetoric has changed, but they're still doing whatever they want.
