i was just talking to a friend about circumcision as a worldwide practice. this is a grevious bodily violation, basically impossible to stop even though it's widely agreed upon to be genital mutilation, and also like. not even in the top 100 issues of bad things out there. maybe not even top 1000.
there's just so many bad issues. if someone said "i'm a single issue voter on circumcision" that would be deeply funny
"human societies around the world practice circumcision" is enough alone to make humanity feel worthless. it's almost dystopian. you could probably write one of those young adult dystopia novels as an analogy for circumcision. imagine if the author of "the hunger games" came out and said "yeah it's about circumcision"
but as something to worry about? it's a topic far more comforting to think about than the genocide that's occurring. it's almost nothing against the earth becoming inhabitable. there are definite hierarchies to "bad things", it's just sad that the bar for "global human atrocity" has so many thousands of entries, that some of them are also kind of funny.
come on. it's serious but it's also so funny. there shouldn't be so many things that are so bad that there are some that are so not-relatively-serious that caring deeply about them seems really funny.
"kamala harris lost because she never said what her policies are on circumcision"
