Listen up liberals ☠️😤🔥🔥🔥 - My wife left me 🧎😤🔥🔥🔥

Woah... My wife is gone. But finally, a show for me....

"Your Friends and Neighbors" is like a wish-fulfillment show made for Divorced Conservative Men. I think?

It follows a rich white guy with the gay son / thot daughter combo, cucked out of his own house by an even richer NBA player, who becomes disillusioned with his wealthy community. He goes on a crime adventure, laden with product placement for six-figure luxury goods, and unnecessary hot sex with a variety of women of various ages.

None of that is an exaggeration.

The narrative lives squarly in the philosophical throughline of the fathers rights / mens rights / mgtow / etc "movements". It espouses a worldview where the "Omelas child" is real, and it's always a middle aged white guy. The racial overtones of being cucked by a richer black man seep through every scene, but are never explicitly addressed. That's left as an exercise for the viewer.

The narrative wholly adopts Divorced Dad's point of view, entirely unsympathetic to all the people who wronged him. It really just feels like a way for newly-lonely divorced men to feel powerful, agentful, and justified. The intro has a sole John Hamm walking dramatically toward the camera.

This is "trash TV", to me. I didn't understand why I was watching it. Somebody told me it was good, but this is just very high-production garbage. It feels like a show for the MAGA moment.

The one thing is the ludicrious luxury product placement. Every episode is interspersed with John Hamm, narrating a short infomercial advertisement for the product he is stealing. It's almost kind of interesting, and it's so on the nose... But what's the point? Surely nobody watching this will decide to purchase a $300,000 watch. It's almost mocking, like, "Look at this awesome watch you will never have because you are a fucking loser."

But the worst part is it starts en media res. In a cliche, it starts with the dramatic climax of the story... But ☝️! "You're probably wondering how I got here!"

I think I have a problem of reading things too generously, of capturing my own criticisms and pretending they're anticipated by the thing I'm reading or watching.

But, no. This show is as shallow as a puddle. I don't know why I'm watching it. It's not bad enough to loop back around to being interesting. I'm trying to find an angle that the puddle looks deep from. But this time, I can't even mistake the clouds in the reflected sky for something deep.

It's a very bad show with a very large budget. That's all.

TLDR: Play Outer Wilds
