did you know that spotify's got an internal genre called "lilith"? reddit actually comes through in this case and explains: it has to do with sarah mclachlan's lilith fair, and thus it's the kind of artists that would be featured in that festival; in effect, you mostly get female singer-songwriters. apparently stuff that would be popular with the folk-y types. the sundays is somehow assigned that genre. i guess in some respects i understand. although i guess i file the sundays more in the dream pop bin myself; that's a distinction that's more personally useful for me.

every chord of this song is pensive and sad to the point that it's almost comically sappy. if not for the fact that it just works. they just, pulled it off.
