halo is a popular v ideogame
halo is a platform to promote not just doritos, but also the united states department of defense
it's also a testament to teenage masculinity with all the things a 13 year old in the year 2004 would love
it's also a game on which a lot of people have made a lot of cherished memories
but halo is a universe with such capacity for telling endearing stories with real themes and meanings. so many different authors got their chance to make their mark in the universe. there are so many good short stories, which range from "cool military battle" to "interesting dip into speculative fiction" to "thought provoking" to "greg bear goes hard for three novels"
i was in eager anticipation of a halo show for ten years. in 2012, a show was announced,
i was hesitant. a book adaptation AND a game adaptation, at once? maybe this would be bad?
but in 2013, steven spielberg, who is good at book adaptations, was announced to be running it, for release in 2015.
i was excited to see the storytelling capacity for the halo universe be filled.
then in the show, they eschewed all of this and made master chief fuck a prisoner of war
