my understanding is that they don't do it anymore because too many people wanted it. they were like "we have enough bones". but probably worth looking into

You can still donate your body to med schools. They don't keep your bones but med students get to practice and that could be nice to know you had as a small legacy.

we have a pretty big medical school nearby that's always taking cadavers so that's probably where mine will go

honestly since i have a very unusual surgical history there's a chance mine might be particularly of interest.

have you ever seen the article about this lady who donated her body to science so that they could take layer by layer images of her whole body so they could recreate it as a full 3d model i think thats really cool but also wild to think that after all of that process she was just like. a bunch of dust.
hollyhoppet OP wrote
yeah lol. pretty wild

The one thing that dissuades me from it is the stories I read about hospitals selling the bodies for bomb testing. If. I could stipulate that it could only be used for med students I'd be more willing.

oh god when i was a kid i saw a news report of a person whose body was used for this anatomic model and they sliced him up into very thin layers and preserved him like that like salami. that fucked me up so bad
