Lately I've been playing morrowind with a texture mod that uses this. It ain't perfect but it's pretty damn good

here's the mod if anyone is curious. It includes comparison screenshots so you can see how wild it is

its nice to see up-scaling that actually keeps the vague shaped feeling of a lot of these older games and doesn't just make everything hyperrealistic with no accommodation for what it was intended to look like
