Reading a thread "A very young staff member in my office sent me this [anti-Trump email]"

Content of the OP is "She knows I voted for Trump and wanted how true all of this was. ... I’m so tired of trying to explain shit to people like her that I just couldn’t bring myself to have another long ass discussion"

The comments are mostly "If we are unwilling to argue our views, do we deserve to win?" and "You had an opportunity to educate her, especially about propaganda. Yet you chose to roll your eyes and disengage. This is why we lose."

Also a lot of "I was hoping for a picture of boobs." and quoting the Bible.

But mostly chastising the OP for not taking this opportunity to articulate a pro-Trump position.

I think about this a lot. These people are insane cult members but they'll take every opportunity to explain themselves, while also talking about fucking women a third their age.

I've been thinking about leftism a lot. One of conservatism's big strengths is that they have a huge culture against infighting. I guess a group that prides itself on confirming will have a better unity of direction than a group of individuals which prides itself on nonconforming.

I don't think they're wrong for wanting to seize opportunities to educate people, because that's what I try to do with leftist topics. It's what they believe that I object to, which is why I'm glad this individual chose to roll their eyes and disengage.

Absolutely.

This is a forum where January 6th was kind of planned. I balked at them for saying some hilarious shit, like "I can't go because if I leave, who will stop commies from killing my family?" or "I have to go, because if I don't, commies will kill my family." I'm not exaggerating here. Then the riot actually happened, so I went here to check the pulse again.

Now, it's really a lot of practical "growing the cult" mindset, but yeah, they're totally right here.

I really attribute the community here at JstPst for taking opportunities to educate me. I had a lot of bad thinking in me that some of the people here were able to comb out, and they gave me a lot of patience and grace. That was 12 years ago, but I think it's a winning strategy.

I've had increasingly few opportunities to "reach across" a divide, given the pandemic and the tea party / MAGA / whatnot.

There is a grave feeling in my heart currently
