I anticipated this movie being bad and it delivered on that.
Mainstream appeal is anathema to me in all things, because I am a particular opinionated tortured mentally ill sad little sloppy clown.
Joker 2 went even further by being completely disjointed as a narrative. It was a musical that felt like it didn't want to be a musical. The movie seemed to be actively resisting becoming a musical, like a fever attempting to suppress an infection. There were several times it seemed to succeed. The cast comes close to breaking out in song, but the momentum is stopped and the movie continues on without a song.
Unfortunately, the movie wasn't "fun bad" like The Room, it was bad-bad.
But it did an earnest job at portraying the journey of a tortured mentally ill sad little sloppy clown through institutionalization. The movie was bad, but I can't stop thinking about it. Where does he keep getting those cigarettes?
Even worse, I too was jokerified after abuse I suffered at the age of 7. How do I even tell anyone that?
0/10, must watch in theaters
