glass is a wild material. with just a few pounds of coercion, it can instantly take on edges which resolve themselves to an atomic resolution.
the aperiodic nature of glass means it quickly loses its one-molecule-thick edge. but those edges only dull themselves when you give them something to dull against. the only part of the human body that will stop it are your bones
saw a toddler punching a window a few years ago. i saw a parent lift their toddler away and admonish, "don't break my window!"
when i saw him pull the child away, away from the suction-decorated glass and into the carpeted room, i felt the concern was misplaced. if that kid broke through, it would've instantly activated a machine that could turn any day into the worst day of their life. it could've marked the second date on that child's tombstone. if that glass were thinner, or that child older and stronger, imagine how bad it could've been
people have gotta be more afraid of glass

idk we live in a world full of things that have a latent danger to them. people drive in cars all day with the passive knowledge that any other driver on the road could kill them with a turn of the steering wheel. i jaywalk knowing that drivers are fucking insane and want to kill pedestrians at the best of times. i was making a different point with this comment but maybe actually the crux is that having cars be the primary vehicle (hoh) through which we move around the world is not a good idea. uhh people leave their babies around dogs even knowing that that dog could eat that fuckin baby. i'm going off track here
