I wasn't being serious but also I'd say that if we can try to be more ethical we should go for it anyway. There being no ethical consumption shouldn't mean that we should just do whatever, but that we shouldn't feel bad if we can't do "better".

unexpected place to see this but i'm really happy to hear someone say that
it feels like a catch-all excuse that people used in my undergrad to justify things they buy and do when like.... you can do things that are More Ethical

there is no "more ethical" game store other than maybe itch.io, which often doesnt sell the type of games that youll find on other storefronts, or humble bundle, which sells you keys for those other storefronts. imo there's no point in playing gotcha over the Ethical Considerations Of The Epic Store when we all have and use Steam every day, a product that is the Actual worst case scenario re loot boxes, with a stingier pricing model than epic's and a community chock full of vocal fascists to boot
moreover what even are the ethical pitfalls of using epics store? it's annoying to have another games library?

tbh my loyalty for Steam is so low that I'm gonna get Epic just for Celeste.
The platforms are all kinda sucky in their own little ways.
