"Canadian Mind Products" is a web 1.0 site by Roedy Green, a software engineer.
I found this article stapled to a cubicle during one of my internships, and I tracked down the original. I found that Roedy was a gay software engineer living with HIV, with whole articles on topics such as "Esperanto", "How to have gay sex", "Canadian politics", and "Windows 10".
Seriously-- this (nsfw) article titled "screwing" has the 16 Rules of Anal Intercourse. It's very frankly written, even if I disagree with part of it.
I begrudgingly admit that I get good value out of Stallman's site -- he has 20 valuable years of easy-to-access leftist postings, including political updates and calls to action -- but he's not the only Web 1.0 guy.
I thought about this post when talking with some zoomer friends about the Bad Times that are coming. I'm an old-zoomer, and I consider myself pretty lucky to have millenial, gen X, and boomer queer friends and acquaintances. I came into adulthood around the time gay marriage was legalized, and I feel like I got to appreciate what now is certainly a local maxima of queer liberation.
So, please enjoy this post, and enjoy the rest of this good site.
